What is Doggie Daycare?

Many cities nationwide have adopted this new craze known as "Doggie Daycare." This service allows pet owners to drop their dog off for "a day of fun" while they are busy at work. Similar to a child day care it offers a chance for their pet to socialize with others. We have an inside/outside facility, which allows the dogs to play in all sorts of weather.

Who can benefit from doggie daycare?

Every dog can benefit from doggie daycare. It is a special service designed to allow dogs to interact with one another. If your dog sits in a crate or mopes around the house all day while you're at work, doggie daycare is the answer. Your dog will love you for it!

What are the requirements for enrolling my pet in doggie daycare?

Your dog must be spayed or neutered. They must also be up to date on the following vaccinations: Bordetella, DHLPP, and Rabies. Your dog must be worm and flea free. You must show proof of the above items in order for your pet to attend doggie daycare. All vaccinations are good for one year from the date they were given. A flea preventative must be applied monthly and feces must be worm free at all times. If we find fleas or worms from your dog he/she will be suspend until the condition is resolved. Your dog's behavior will be monitored during his/her first visit to doggie daycare. This monitoring is knows as the temperament test and is conducted to determine if your pet is a good candidate for daycare. We have a "three strikes, you're out" policy at our daycare facility. If your pet behaves badly three times, he/she is expelled from our daycare.

Why is a temperament test necessary before admittance to Doggie Daycare?

Doggie Daycare is such a unique environment that many dogs have yet to experience it. Because dogs are allowed to interact with others in playgroups it is important to closely screen the dogs beforehand to ensure they are suitable for a safe and enjoyable daycare environment.

Why is it necessary for my dog to have the bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine at least 14 days prior to their visit?

Unlike many other vaccines, the bordetella vaccine, commonly known as kennel cough is administered as a live vaccination. Therefore, your pet after treatment could potentially end up with a weakened form of the virus. After a few days the virus will pass and your pet will return to normal health, however it's important that ample time is left for the virus to clear from your dogs system before they stay at the kennel. We go through great lengths to ensure all of our guests are up-to-date on their vaccinations and are healthy when they arrive. Vaccinations are only a preventative measure, therefore it's important to minimize the exposure to all types of viruses.
